getting started

BMX is for all ages - boys and girls!

All bicycles are welcome at the Chimacum BMX track for practice and learning to ride. The track is currently open during regular park hours and everyone is invited to ride on it.

As the Chimacum BMX track is currently NOT an ABA sanctioned race track, you may not see many actual racers out there; though we hope this will soon change.

For now, the track is available for those who are interested in learning to ride on a BMX track. You do not need a special bike or special equipment; though it is recommended to wear a helmet (preferably full-face), long sleeves and long pants, and have padding on your bike.

Once the Chimacum BMX track becomes an ABA sanctioned race track, there will be specific rules as to what shape your bike needs to be in and guidelines for the behavior of participating members and spectators during races. The rest of the time, the public will be able to use it just like now, only it will be so much nicer!

ABA MEMBERSHIP

All racers must join the ABA in order to race or to train using the starting gate at chimacumbmx. An ABA membership provides certain levels of insurance, allows you to race at all ABA sanctioned tracks throughout the U.S. and Canada (see links for a list of ABA tracks in Washington), and supports BMX racing throughout the U.S. and Canada.

You can join at any track on race day or you can print the membership application form from this page. If you are under 18, your parent must accompany you and sign the waiver.

ABA Membership Form (You can fill this out and bring it to the track to sign up to race.)
